Welcome to The North Star -- FDA's Official Newspaper

The North Star is the Frederick Douglass Academy's official newspaper. During the upcoming school year, we will be celebrating the paper's third year in production.

The paper receives funding from the Charles Hayden Foundation, headed by Mr. Merin, who has shown great dedication to our school's prosperity.

We would like to thank our principal, Dr. Hodge, for supporting the newspaper and for working closely with us to make this paper the best it can be. In addition to thanking Dr. Hodge, we would also like to thank our faculty advisor, Ms. Rodriguez for her endless support and devotion.

However, our greatest gratitude extends to our faithful readers, who have allowed the newspaper to becoming an important aspect of the FDA community. Thank you!

FDA North Star: The Mission

The North Star's main purpose is to inform and to engage. There is a world outside of Harlem and New York City, and in order to gain a greater appreciation for our society, we must acknowledge it. Our goal is to raise social awareness about issues that have been forgotten by the mainstream media; therefore also forgotten by our generation. We seek to allow our generation to make itself known and to disperse the widely accepted opinion that we do not care. We seriously do care. Join us and help us make the FDA community, a great community.
